Skyline
What is sky lining?
sky lining is usually used on banks and hillsides when the ground is too steep for machinery to operate safely and efficiently,
it is used to extract timber up or down to where other forestry machines are situated ready to process said timber ready for final extraction.
How its done
The Skyline base machine is set up at the top of the hillside and the line is run down to the bottom of the hillside where it is then anchored to another base machine or suitable anchor point such as a tree, this would then have additional supports put in place using chains and tensioners.
the carriage is then added onto the main line with an additional line fed through with chockers added , the carriage can now be sent up and down the main line and drop the additional line for the runners to attach the chockers to the trees which are then extracted to be processed.
